UML wins mayor, NC wins the majority

Election Commission, Nepal has declared CPN-UML candidate Madan Sundar Shrestha has been elected mayor of Madhyapur Thimi Municipality with a total of 13960 votes. His opponent Asta Kaway from NC received 10846 votes. Likewise, Anjana Madhikarmi from Nepali Congress (NC) has been elected deputy mayor with 10678 votes. Her opponent Kedar Khadka from NWPP received 7762 votes. According to the election result concluded today, NC has won the majority of ward presidents.
NC has won the full panel in ward 1, 6 and 9. Similarly, except two ward members, NC won in all positions in wards 5 and 8 while an independent candidate won in ward 7. Followings are the newly elected Madhyapur Thimi Municipality members:
a) Mayor: Madan Sundar Shrestha (UML)
b) Deputy Mayor: Anjana Madhikarmi (NC)
c) Ward 1 President: Suraj Khadka (NC)
d) Ward 2 President: Ram Thapa Magar (NC)
e) Ward 3 President: Prem Bahadur Kutu (NC)
f) Ward 4 President: Kumar Shrestha (NC)
g) Ward 5 President: Amrit Man Shrestha (UML)
h) Ward 6 President: Indra Bahadur Prajapati (NC)
i) Ward 7 President: Krishna Kumar Prajapati (Independent)
j) Ward 8 President: Dev Krishna Moy Shrestha (NWPP)
k) Ward 9 President: Ram Kaji Chakradhar (NC)
Madhyapur Thimi has a total population of 83,036, out of which 36,054 are eligible voters. There were 62 total female candidates and 135 male candidates in this local election of 2017.
